action
Lena, geologist and mother of one daughter, receives news from friends in her home village that her father Gottfried is terminally ill. He disowned her eight years ago because he blamed her for her mother's death, so that it is not very easy for her to return to her home village in the Alps. She tries to get in touch with her father again, but he totally refuses. Only the daughter warms the old man's heart. Lena meets her old sweetheart Anton again, whom she could never forget. But this is now married to Magda. Magda has taken over her father's construction company and is planning the big coup with a corner lawyer. A ski center is to be built above the village. For this purpose, the forest that has previously served as a protective wall for the village must and will be cleared. Lena recognizes the threat and tries to fight the rogue lawyer. Anton supports Lena in saving the village. Both notice that they are still in love with each other. At this year's fair, Anton Lena confronts Lena as to why she fled the village so quickly eight years ago. Lena reports to Anton that Magda had told her that she was pregnant by Anton and that they both wanted to get married. At that moment Lena felt so betrayed that she fled to the mountains to think. At that time a bad storm began and Lena's mother was worried about Lena, so she went to the mountains to look for Lena. She had an accident. Anton explains to Lena that Magda has spread untruths. They only met after Lena left. He would always have loved her. Lena confesses to Anton that he is her daughter's father.
criticism
“'Shadow of Memory' is a rustic, feel-good, eco-mountain drama based on motifs by Ludwig Ganghofer. The woodcut nature of the story fits the genre. You have to have a soft spot for the mountains and for melodrama that moves between down-to-earth archetypes and checkered anachronisms. "
