Katharina de la Durantaye (* 1975 in Düsseldorf as Katharina Schickert ) has been teaching as professor for civil law and private media law at the European University Viadrina since the summer semester 2018 . In particular, she researches German and foreign copyright law .

Career

Katharina de la Durantaye studied art history , psychology and sociology at the Università degli Studi di Bologna as well as law, modern German literature , cultural studies and economics at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In 2003 she received her doctorate with a thesis on early forms of copyright in Roman law at Humboldt University, which was awarded the Legal Book of the Year 2005. In 2005 she earned a Master of Laws from Yale Law School .

De la Durantaye has taught in the United States at Boston University School of Law , Columbia Law School, and St. John's University School of Law . From 2010 to 2018 she worked as a junior professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In the 2018 summer semester she accepted a position at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt an der Oder .
