Kathleen Aerts

Kathleen Aerts , actually Kathelijne Elisabeth Maria Aerts (born June 18, 1978 in Geel , Belgium ) is a Belgian singer - songwriter . She was a member of the Belgian pop group K3 .

Life

From 1998 to 2009 Kathleen Aerts was a member of the Flemish vocal trio K3, whose music is aimed more at children. The band's genre was pop and bubblegum pop. Originally, K3 was supposed to be a Dutch-language version of the Spice Girls. The first song Wat ik wil flopped. The following year K3 took part unsuccessfully in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest, whereby their single "Heyah Mama" was successfully placed in both the Belgian and Dutch charts some time later. Together with K3, Aerts has sold over 4 million singles, albums and DVDs. She has also released several films with K3 and played in two K3 musicals. Since Aerts left K3, Verbeke and Damen have been singing together with Josje Huisman , who won the part in the group through a specially held casting show.

In 2010 Aerts was a member of the Ketnetband.

After Aerts left K3 in 2009, she started her solo career with the song "Zumba Yade". Later the album "Kathleen in symfonie" followed, on which she sang Schlager. In 2010 Aerts announced to return to children's music. Her first children's song, without K3, was called Boerderij blue ( Eng . Farm blues), however, has not yet appeared on the market as a single, but only later on her third solo album Vlinders ( eng . Butterflies), which will be released in September 2013. She wrote some of the songs herself.

In 2009 she wrote an autobiographical book after leaving K3. Since June 2009 she has had a relationship with the police officer Sven van Hoof , whom she married on June 12, 2010. Their first son was born on January 26, 2011, the second on December 8, 2013. In 2015, she and her family moved to South Africa with their demented mother. In the same year a book was published in which she describes the course of her mother in Alsheim. 2016 saw the first single in Afrikaans Die Roos (Eng. Die Rose), a cover of Bette Midler's The Rose .

During her time at K3, she was able to amass a fortune of 2.12 million euros.

Musicals

useful information

  • Aerts' image in the form of a wax figure is in Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam.
  • The song "Zumba Yade" was recorded by Aerts with Unicef. Part of the donation went to the society to help poor children in Africa. For this project Aerts traveled to Africa and attended a school, among other things.
  • On the album "Kathleen in symfonie" Kathleen sings a duet with Danny de Munk.
  • The album "Dag Sinterklaasje" was created because Aerts wanted to present the old Christmas carols in a modern form. This idea came to her when she was looking for Christmas carols that she could sing to her son. On this album she co-wrote the songs herself for the first time.
