Career

Colorado Rockies

Uribe was signed as a free agent by the Colorado Rockies in 1997 . After a few years in the minor leagues , he was appointed to the Rockies team in 2001. In his first season in the majors, he played 72 games and had a batting average of .300 with 8 home runs and 53 RBIs. With 11 triples he was second in the National League behind Jimmy Rollins . The following year he played his first full season in the short stop position . In 2003 he first had to cure an injury and only came back to the team in June, where he was now used on second base and in the outfield. After the season, the Rockies transferred him to the Chicago White Sox .

Chicago White Sox

In his first season with the White Sox, he performed significantly better than last time with the Rockies. While his average batting average was .253 in 2003, he hit .283 in 23 home runs and 74 RBIs in Chicago. At the end of the 2004 season, he extended his contract for three years (with an option for an additional year) for $ 9.75 million. In 2005 he played again exclusively as a shortstop and was able to win the World Series with the White Sox . In the 2006 season, his batting average was .235 and his on-base percentage was .257. Still, he hit 21 home runs and 71 RBIs in 132 games. Despite similar performances in the 2007 season, the White Sox extended the contract with Uribe for another year for 4.5 million US dollars. In the 2008 season , Uribe initially lost his place on the starting line-up after the White Sox signed Alexei Ramirez . He later played on second base due to an injury to Joe Crede . At the end of the season he became a free agent.

San Francisco Giants

In January 2009 Uribe signed a contract for the Minor Leagues with the San Francisco Giants, but was added to the Giants' roster at the beginning of the 2009 season . After a solid season with a batting average of .289 on 16 home runs and 55 RBIs, he extended his contract with the Giants for another year for $ 3.25 million. He closed the 2010 regular season with a batting average of .256, 24 home runs and 85 RBIs. In the Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies , he finished with a Sacrifice Fly Game 4 of the series. In Game 6, his home run in the eighth inning gave the Giants the lead. They did not allow any more runs of the Phillies and moved into the World Series . In their Game 1, Uribe hit a home run in the sixth inning against the Texas Rangers , which caused three runs for the Giants.

Los Angeles Dodgers

On November 30, 2010, Uribe signed a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers for $ 21 million. On May 27, 2015, he was "traded" to the Atlanta Braves , together with pitcher Chris Withrow, in return four players from Atlanta switched to the Dodgers.

Private life

Uribe is married with three children: Juan Luis, Juanny, and Janny.
