The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Family in Bad Düben was built in 1957. It belongs to the parish of St. Klara , based in Delitzsch , in the Torgau deanery of the Magdeburg diocese . The church in the district of North Saxony is listed on the district's list of monuments.

history

The church property was acquired in 1872 by the Catholic parish of Eilenburg . For the few Catholics in Düben, a chapel and classrooms were set up in a residential building . As a result of flight and expulsion from the German eastern regions after 1945, the Catholic population in Düben grew. From 1946 to 1957 Sunday masses took place in the Protestant cemetery chapel .

In 1947 the Catholic parish in Düben was founded as the curate of Eilenburg. The foundation stone of the church with the patronage of Holy Family took place on 24 July 1955. By architect J. Reuter and the construction company O. Giersdorf was with great support of the community members a suggested three-nave basilica built and on June 2, 1957 by Bishop Friedrich Maria Rintelen consecrated . In 1959 Bad Düben was raised to a parish vicarie. Since 2010 the church has been looked after by the Catholic parish of St. Klara Delitzsch .

In 2012, for the first time since the church was consecrated, major renovations were carried out.

The bell in the tower consists of three bells.
