Pulkkinen, who started for the Sulkavan Urheilijat -41, made her debut in the World Cup in Lahti in March 1994 and took tenth place with the relay. At the beginning of the 1994/95 season she ran her first race in the Continental Cup in Ilomantsi , which she finished classically in 14th place over 5 km and in Östersund her first individual race in the World Cup, which she placed 21st over 30 km Freestyle ended and at the same time got her first World Cup points. At the Junior World Ski Championships in Gällivare in 1995 , she was seventh over 15 km freestyle and won the bronze medal with the relay. In the 1995/96 season she came in 14 individual starts in the World Cup, ten times in the points. With 12th place over 5 km freestyle in Seefeld in Tyrol, she achieved her best individual placement in the World Cup and at the end of the season with 24th place in the overall World Cup, her best overall result. She was also in March 1996 second in Oslo with the relay. After seventh place over 5 km classic and third place over 5 km freestyle at the Continental Cup in Kittilä at the beginning of the 1996/97 season, she achieved 37th place in the overall World Cup with seven places in the points. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997 in Trondheim , she won the bronze medal with the relay. Her best placement in the individual was 16th place over 30 km classic and in the pursuit. In March 1997, she took third place with the relay at the World Cup in Falun . In the following season, she ran her 33rd and last individual World Cup race in Ramsau am Dachstein , which she finished in 43rd place in the pursuit. At her only Olympic participation in February 1998 in Nagano she finished 57th place over 5 km classic and 51st place in the pursuit.
