Kati Székely
Kati Székely (born December 2, 1941 in New York City ; as Catherine Székely ) is a German actress and psychologist .
Life
Catherine Székely is the daughter of the Hungarian writer Hans Székely . She was born in New York, where the family emigrated in 1938. During the McCarthy era , when the leadership, members and sympathizers of the US Communist Party were persecuted by the US government, the “un-American left-wing sympathizer” Hans Székely went to Mexico with his family, where the artist spent part of her childhood spent. In 1956 the family moved to Potsdam , where the father worked as a screenwriter for DEFA .
As a teenager, Székely played the leading role of Anne Frank in the play Diary of Anne Frank at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , directed by Emil Stöhr . Székely attended the State Drama School and was discovered by film and television. In the multi-part television film Das Grüne Ungeheuer (1962) she played Chabelita at the side of Jürgen Frohriep , whom she later married in a second marriage. In 1965 she played the sister of the young Dakota chief Tokei-ihto at the side of Gojko Mitić in the first DEFA Indian film The Sons of the Great Bear, based on the novel of the same name by Liselotte Welskopf-Henrich . One of her most important films was the first film about the wall: ... and your love with Armin Mueller-Stahl too .
After marrying Jürgen Frohriep, the artist gave up acting and studied psychology . With the turnaround and the lack of role offers, Frohriep suffered from depression and increasingly indulged in alcohol, so that she separated from him and moved to Switzerland, where she opened her own practice as a psychotherapist under the name Kati Székely-Frohriep. In addition to this activity, she also gives lectures on the question "Spirituality and psychotherapy - does that go together?"
From her first marriage to the actor Hans-Edgar Stecher , she has a son, the actor Thomas Stecher . The marriage with Jürgen Frohriep resulted in four children (Daniel, David, Dana and Deborah Frohriep).
