action

Charlotte Plentley, a successful handbag designer, learns from her husband Alec Plentley, a successful architect, that he has turned down a great job offer because he wants to spend more time with Charlotte for the first time after a year and a half of marriage. But the young woman currently has a lot to do in her job. But she still takes a few days to drive away with Alec, which her boss Suzan dislikes. But even on vacation, Charlotte cannot do without her cell phone and business calls.

After the young woman suddenly felt brief paralysis in her legs, the couple drives to a hospital and then to Alec's parents, who have an apple orchard near the clinic. The doctor confronts Charlotte with the shocking diagnosis that she has multiple sclerosis . Because she has to take it easy, she and Alec are very close again for a few days. Charlotte drives back home some time later as a hitchhiker. A conversation she had with the trucker, who was also faced with a difficult decision, and said that when one door closes, another will open, helps her decide to cut back on her job from now on. She quits her job with the wish that her assistant Jennifer, who has always supported her lately, may be her successor. But Suzan and all of the employees do not want to allow this and promise that they will enable Charlotte to continue doing her work despite her illness.

reception

criticism

TV Spielfilm could not gain anything from the film adaptation and spoke of "soulful conflicts according to a dull formula". Conclusion: "Knitting patterns and transfiguration are a couple"

Tilmann P. Gangloff from Tittelbach.tv said that the film in the Herzkino series had an "unusually dramatic undertone". He continued: “The book is by Marcus Hertneck, who owes his good name to sophisticated comedies and who successfully tries his hand at drama here. Telegen autumn staged by 'Herzkino' veteran Helmut Metzger. […] There are prints on the other hand in front of the camera. Nike Fuhrmann, best known for her supporting role in 'Der Bergdoktor', looks a little too often wide-eyed at the fate of her character and, towards the end, remembers the typical exaggerations of American actresses with big gestures. "Gangloff drew the conclusion:" The bottom line is 'You and I' is still worth seeing, especially since Hertneck does not present his message - suffering shared is suffering half - superficial and clumsy. Despite the potentially depressing subject, to which the sometimes lively music doesn't always fit, the message is positive. "

Audience rating

The first broadcast on ZDF was watched by a total of 4.59 million people, which corresponded to a market share of 13.5% of the total audience. For younger people between 14 and 49 years of age it was a 7.6% market share.
