Katie Lansdale (violinist)

Katie Lansdale is an American violinist and music teacher.

Life

Lansdale graduated from Yale University cum laude and continued her musical education at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music ( Doctor of Musical Arts summa cum laude). Her teachers were Josef Gingold , Felix Galimir , Ronda Cole , Donald Weilerstein and Mitchell Stern . After teaching at Boston University and the State University of New York at Stony Brook , she teaches at the Hartt School of the University of Hartford , where she is responsible for violin training, and at the Boston Conservatory .

She is a member of the Lions Gate Trio (with cellist Darrett Adkins and pianist Florence Millet ). With this she recorded trios by American composers, duo and trio music by Nicolas Bacri , all trios by Robert Schumann and trios by Maurice Ravel , Charles Ives and Rebecca Clarke and won a Koussevitsky Award . Lansdale became known as a soloist with several performances of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach for solo violin in North and South America. As a chamber musician, she has worked with Yo-Yo Ma , Robert McDonald , Marcy Rosen , Charles Neidich , the Sequitur Ensemble , the Miami Quartet and the Shanghai Quartet , among others . She has appeared in concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra , the Austin Mozart Orchestra , the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra , the Schroeder Classical Orchestra , the Cleveland Chamber Symphony , the New York Spectrum Orchestra , the New York Repertory Orchestra and others.
