Katrin Ottarsdóttir
Katrin Ottarsdóttir (born May 22, 1957 in Tórshavn , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese filmmaker and poet .
Katrin Ottarsdóttir went to Denmark in 1976, and in 1982 was the first Faroese graduate from the Copenhagen film school. In 1989 she received the Nordic Film Institute Prize for Atlantic Rhapsody - 52 Pictures from Tórshavn at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck . It is the first Faroese feature film in history.
Katrin Ottarsdóttir writes her own scripts and she also directs. Atlantic Rhapsody also produced them. Most of the actors in Katrin Ottarsdóttir's films are Faroese , and her films are also set in the Faroe Islands.
The road movie Bye Bye Bluebird received the main prize of the Nordic Film Festival in 1999 and the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2000 . Her daughter Hildigunn Eyðfinsdóttir (* 1975) plays the leading role there.
In 2008 her trilogy about three Faroese cultural workers was published: the sculptor Hans Pauli Olsen , the writer Tóroddur Poulsen and the writer Jóannes Nielsen .
