Katzbrui is located about seven kilometers southwest of Apfeltrach and two kilometers south of Köngetried . The district is connected to the main town by a municipal road. The place Katzbrui-Mühle belongs to the district. The Katzbruier Bach flows through Katzbrui, which flows further north into the Eßmühler Bach and then continues as the Westernach .

The first mention of the place was in 1457 as Katzbrw . The place served as Design for the film Hans in Luck . There has been an inn with guest rooms in the village since 1981.
