Juha Kaunismäki (born May 6, 1979 in Helsinki ) is a Norwegian - Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Stavanger Oilers in the Norwegian GET league since 2003 .

Career

Juha Kaunismäki began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the Finnish first division club Jokerit Helsinki . After his move to the A-Juniors from Kiekko-Vantaa , the defender made his debut in the second-rate Mestis for his professional team in the 2000/01 season . In the following years he played for Ahmat Hyvinkää and again Kiekko-Vantaa in the second division before he was committed in the summer of 2003 by the Stavanger Oilers from the Norwegian Elitserien . In these he was able to draw attention to himself in the following seasons with good performances, which is why he was naturalized after five years and at the 2008 World Cup for the first time for the Norwegian national team.

Kaunismäki has been team captain for the Stavanger Oilers since 2009. In this position, he led his team in the 2009/10 season to win the Norwegian championship and a year later to the runner-up.

International

For Norway , Kaunismäki took part in the A-World Championships in 2008 , 2009 and 2010 . Furthermore, he was in the squad of the Norwegians at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the qualifying tournament for them.
