Kay Patrick Bruhnke (born July 15, 2001 in Weiden ) is a German basketball player .

career

Bruhnke first went through the youth department of the DJK Neustadt an der Waldnaab and also played in Bayreuth in the youth basketball league (JBBL) in the 2014/15 season . In the summer of 2015 he was German champion in the U16 age group in the basketball variant "3 against 3" .

For the 2015/16 season, Bruhnke joined the youth network of Bundesliga club Brose Bamberg and was in the Regnitztal Baskets in the JBBL and from the 2016/17 season at 1. FC Baunach in the 2. Bundesliga ProA , in the men's team of the Regnitztal Baskets in in the 2nd regional league and at TSV Breitengüßbach in the youth basketball league .

In spring 2017 Bruhnke and other young players from European countries were invited to the “Jordan Brand Classic”, an international talent show, in New York . In August 2018 he and other talents took part in “Basketball without Borders Europe”, a training camp organized by the NBA and the world association FIBA , in Belgrade . At the end of 2018 he suffered a metatarsal fracture and was out until the end of the 2018/19 game year, in which he made ten league appearances for Baunach (6.6 points per match), but missed relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA. In June 2019 he was operated on for another metatarsal fracture (this time the left one was affected).

In summer 2020 Bruhnke moved to Medi Bayreuth in the basketball league .

National team

In 2016 and 2017 Bruhnke took part in the European championship tournaments in this age group as a member of the German U16 national team. In April 2018 he won the Albert Schweitzer tournament with the German U18 national team . At the U18 European Championship in Latvia in 2018  , Bruhnke scored an average of 6.9 points per match and was sixth with the German team.
