Kay Swinburne (born June 8, 1967 in Aberystwyth , Ceredigion , Wales ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party .

Life

Swinburne attended Llandysul Grammar School . She studied biochemistry and microbiology at King's College London and then received her PhD from the University of Surrey . Swinburne was the victim of sexual discrimination at work at Deutsche Bank in 1999 .

In the 2009 EU elections , Swinburne won the European Parliament for Wales . She successfully defended her mandate in May 2014 . For the 2019 election , Swinburne decided not to run again.
