Kayunga is a city in Uganda and the capital of the district of the same name, one of the 77 districts of Uganda .

It is located about 76 km from the capital Kampala . An asphalt road leads to Kayunga, but from Mukono it is very bad. From Kayunga there are only dirt roads. You can get to the capital in about two hours and the industrial city of Jinja in an hour .

Kayunga is close to the Nile and Lake Kyoga , which, however, consists of swamp near the city. The nearby Lake Victoria and the 1000 m high location make the climate in Kayunga pleasant, despite the high temperatures.

The climate is determined by the location near the equator all year balanced warm, due to the altitude but not excessively hot. The temperatures are between 19 ° C and 25 ° C. The rainy seasons are regularly from March to May and from August to November.

economy

Industry is very rare in Kayunga, there are only a few small carpentry shops, a coffee factory and two corn mills. The people in Kayunga seldom have a regular and steady job, and many have several jobs. In addition to their jobs, they also have work to do on their kibanjas (farms).

Among the crops grown include cassava , Kasava , plantains , corn , beans , sweet potatoes and fruit , such as pineapple .
