Kazuya Tsurumaki

Kazuya Tsurumaki ( Japanese 鶴 巻 和 哉 , Tsurumaki Kazuya , born February 2, 1966 in Gosen , Niigata Prefecture ) is a Japanese film director for anime .

Tsurumaki started as an animator at GAINAX . Tsurumaki's first major project at GAINAX was the role of animation director on the series The Power of the Magic Stone . 1995 worked as an assistant director with Hideaki Anno on Neon Genesis Evangelion . In 1998 he took over the role of director of the series Kare Kano after Anno abruptly left the project due to a dispute with sponsors. In 2000 he made his first independent anime series, FLCL, and in 2004 he shot the sequel to Gunbuster , Diebuster . Most recently, he worked as a director on the first of four new films for Neon Genesis Evangelion, Evangelion: 1.0 - You are (not) alone. , Evangelion: 2.0 - You can (not) advance.
