Gosen ( Japanese 五 泉 市 , -shi ) is a city in the interior of Niigata Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .

Gosen is south of Niigata and east of Sanjō

history

  • On November 3, 1954 , the city of Gosen was created through the merger of the former communities of Gosen, Sumoto, Kawato and Hashida.
  • 1955 came a part of Gejō-mura and a part of Sugana-mura.
  • In 1957 part of Shinseki-mura was added.
  • In 2006 the city of Gosen was dissolved. The new city of Gosen was created with the involvement of Muramatsu.
