Tōkamachi ( Japanese 十 日 町 市 , -shi ) is a city in the interior of Niigata Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .

Tōkamachi is located south of Nagaoka and east of Jōetsu .

history

The city of Tōkamachi was founded on March 31, 1954 from the former communities of Tōkamachi, Kawaji, Nakajō and Rokka.
