Keithley Instruments is an American manufacturer of metrological devices such as multimeters and source meters , based in Solon , Ohio .
history
The company was founded in Cleveland , Ohio , in 1946 by Joseph F. Keithley in a garage, and in 1964 the company relocated to Solon. The company had been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 1995 .
In 2010 the company was taken over by the Danaher Corporation and has strong ties to the measurement instrument maker Tektronix , which had been a subsidiary of Danaher since 2007. Tektronix and Keithley had shared sales since 2012. Keithley became part of the Fortive Corporation through a spin-off of the Danahers engineering division . Keithley is now a trademark of Tektronix.
Products
The company's first product was the Phantom Repeater , an amplifier for weak electrical signals that could be measured with the measurement technology customary at the time. Keithley's first source measure devices were introduced in the 1980s.
A source meter has been on the market since 2012, with a measurement resolution of up to 0.1 fA. Such a resolution is not given by other manufacturers on the market.
