Memorial stone for Taras Shevchenko , who stayed in the village in 1843

The village, founded in the 17th century, was until November 2017 the only settlement of the district council of the same name and since then has belonged to the rural community of the neighboring village of Lipljawe in the east of Kaniw Rajon . Keleberda is 14 km east of Kaniw and 80 km northwest of the Cherkassy Oblast center .

The Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko , who was buried in the Taras Shevchenko tomb on the opposite bank of the Dnieper on the Taras Mountain in the Taras Shevchenko tomb , stayed in the village in 1843 . A memorial stone was erected in the village for this event. Upstream of the village is the island of Kruhlyk ( Круглик (острів) ) in the Dnieper .
