Kelwitt's star
Kelwitts Stern is a science fiction novel by Andreas Eschbach from 1999.
content
An extraterrestrial species lives on the distant planet Jombuur , where it is customary to give each newborn a star , which they then visit as part of the so-called oracle trip . One day our sun will also be given away to the Jombuuraner Kelwitt, the protagonist . In the corresponding oracle trip, shortly before the turn of the millennium in the 21st century, Kelwitt crashes due to his carelessness on earth, with seeds of the so-called "eye-opener flower" escaping from the cargo container of the spaceship .
Through a chain of coincidences, Kelwitt ends up with the Mattek family on the Swabian Alb , where he experiences the customs and traditions of mankind, which naturally seem strange to him. However, due to the composition of the earth's atmosphere , his health is deteriorating, which is why he has to go to the spaceship, which has long been guarded by the secret service , shortly before New Year's Eve 1999 , which means that he and the Mattek family who transport him to the spaceship are threatened by an intelligence agent.
However, at that moment the seeds of the eye-opener flower bloom all over the world and all people recognize exactly and with unique objectivity, without being influenced by their own fears or compulsions, what they are doing, whereby the agent releases the passage and Kelwitt - with the decision to become a spaceman - leave earth.
