Ken MacLeod
Ken MacLeod (born August 2, 1954 in Stornoway , Scotland ), actually Kenneth Macrae MacLeod , is a Scottish science fiction author.
Life
Ken MacLeod was born on August 2, 1954 in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland . He studied zoology at the University of Glasgow . Ken MacLeod is the author of various science fiction novels. Today he lives near Edinburgh .
Ken MacLeod is also politically active, which is sometimes discreetly hinted at in his novels when, for example, book titles are incidentally mentioned (“Books on Economics”) written by Karl Marx or the British Trotskyist Tony Cliff . Although the trilogy “Engines of Light” appeared well after 1989, the Soviet Union appears there . Jokes such as that the interstellar currency is the “ thaler ” or that suddenly an “ancient archaeologist” Erich von Däniken is mentioned are somewhat less political . Ken MacLeod's attempt to write an interstellar novel in the Engines of Light trilogy is daring, the plot of which stretches across the galaxy without exceeding the speed of light .
