The Kendall Basin is a non-iced mountain basin in the East Antarctic Coatsland . In the Shackleton Range, it lies at the northwest end of the Herbert Mountains .
The United States Navy took aerial photographs in 1967. The British Antarctic Survey carried out surveys between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the basin in 1972 after the British glacial geologist Percy Fry Kendall (1856-1936) from the University of Leeds .
