Kenneth Wade
Kenneth Wade (born October 13, 1932 in Sleaford , † March 16, 2014 ) was a British chemist in the field of inorganic chemistry .
Wade studied at the University of Nottingham , where he received his PhD under Norman Greenwood . As a postdoctoral fellow he worked with Harry Emeléus in Cambridge and with Albert Laubengayer at Cornell University . In 1960 he became a Lecturer at Derby College of Technology and at the University of Durham from 1961 Lecturer, from 1971 Senior Lecturer and from 1977 Reader . In 1983 he was appointed professor there and retired in 1997.
In 1971 he established the Wade rules, also known as the Wade-Mingos rules, for the spatial structure of clusters using the example of boranes . He simply referred to this as Polyhedral Skeletal Electron Pair Theory (PSEPT). In addition, he dealt with azomethine , organic phosphorus compounds , organic lithium chemistry, lithium amide and the chemistry of transition metals .
In 1989 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society and in 1996 President of the Dalton Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry .
