The municipality of Keramoti ( Greek Δημοτική Ενότητα Κεραμωτής Dimotiki Enotita Keramotis ) is one of three municipal districts of the municipality of Nestos in the Greek region of East Macedonia and Thrace . It emerged from the municipality of the same name as part of the 2010 administrative reform and is divided into a city district and three local communities.

The municipality extends in the south of the municipality of Nestos over 115,095 square kilometers. Chrysoupoli borders to the north . Natural borders are the Gulf of Kavala in the west, the Strait of Thasos in the south and the Nestos in the east , which at the same time forms the border with the municipality of Topiros .

The municipality of Keramoti ( Dimos Keramotis Δήμος Κεραμωτής) was from 1997 to 2010 a municipality of the then Greek prefecture of Kavala with the administrative seat in the city of the same name. As a result of the municipal reform in 1997 , it was created from the merger of four rural communities. With the administrative reform in 2010 , Keramoti was merged with Chrysoupoli and Topiros to form the new municipality of Nestos and has since formed a municipality there. This is subdivided into a city district and three local communities.

There are regular connections from the ferry port in the town of Keramoti to the island of Thasos in the south . Kavala International Airport is located in the municipality, about 11 kilometers from Keramoti .
