The Kesselburg , also called Kesselberg , is an abandoned hilltop castle at 300  m above sea level. NN on the so-called "Kesselberg" above the local community Jakobsweiler in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

In a document in 1144 a noble family belonging to the castle is mentioned as the founder of the Otterberg monastery . In 1357 the Junkers von Kezzelberg appear as owners of the neighboring village of Weitersweiler . The castle was mentioned as a ruin as early as 1542 . In the 19th century the castle is mentioned again as a ruin and until 1920 there was a deep castle well with a diameter of two meters. The last remains of the wall were removed in 1930.

investment

Hardly anything is left of the castle complex. In 1963 fragments of the neck ditch were uncovered on the Burgstall . Today the castle hill is very overgrown and the neck ditch leveled.
