The Kesselring-Zeitlose ( Colchicum kesselringii ) is a species of the genus of the timeless ( Colchicum ) in the family of the timeless plants (Colchicaceae).

features

The Kesselring-Zeitlose is a perennial tuber that reaches heights of 3 to 10 centimeters. The tuber has a diameter of 1 to 2.5 centimeters. The 4 to 7 (rarely 2 to 9) leaves measure 1 to 7.5 × 0.2 to 1.4 centimeters at flowering time, later they reach up to 5 to 18 × 0.2 to 1.4 centimeters. The 1 to 2 (rarely up to 5) flowers are strongly fragrant, funnel-shaped, spread out in the sun, white and have dark purple stripes on the outside. The perigone measure 15 to 35 × 1.5 to 8 millimeters. The scar is punctiform and not protruding.

The flowering period extends from February to March.

Occurrence

The Kesselring timeless occurs in eastern Afghanistan, in western Pamir-Alai and in western Tienschan. It grows in montane to alpine grasslands, in subalpine steppes, in damp depressions as well as on slopes and plateaus at altitudes of 2000 to 4000 (rarely from 450) meters.
