Kevin Burns
Kevin Burns (born June 18, 1955 in Schenectady , New York , USA , † September 27, 2020 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer , television director and screenwriter .
Life
Burns grew up in Niskayuna , New York State. In 1977 he graduated cum laude from Hamilton College in New York City . In 1981 he received a Masters Degree in Film from Boston University's College of Communication . That same year he received a Student Academy Award for his first film, I Remember Barbra (documentary with Barbra Streisand). After graduating, Burns taught film production at a university and was the head of the so-called "Film Unit", a group that should enable students to gain practical experience shooting commercials and documentaries. In 1988 he moved to Los Angeles , where he worked as an executive at 20th Century Fox Television . Burns later worked as a producer or director in many TV productions and films and founded his own production company Prometheus Entertainment in 1999 . He died on September 27, 2020 at the age of 65 due to heart failure.
