Kevin Wayne Yoder (born January 8, 1976 in Hutchinson , Kansas ) is an American politician . From 2011 to 2019 he represented the state of Kansas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Kevin Yoder grew up on a farm near Hutchinson. He studied English and political science at the University of Kansas in Lawrence until 1999 . After completing a law degree at the same university and being admitted to the bar in 2002, he began to work in this profession. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 2002 and 2010 he was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives . There he headed the Grants Committee and the Committee on Legislative Budget . He also sat on the judicial committee.

In the 2010 congressional elections , Yoder was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the third constituency of Kansas , where he succeeded the no longer-running Democrat Dennis Moore on January 3, 2011 . In Congress, he is or was a member of the Grants Committee and three sub-committees.

He was confirmed in office in three re-elections in 2012, 2014 and 2016. In the 2018 congressional elections , he lost his office to the Democrat Sharice Davids .
