Dennis Moore

Dennis Moore (born November 8, 1945 in Anthony , Kansas ) is an American politician . From 1999 to 2011 he represented the third constituency of the state of Kansas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Dennis Moore attended Wichita South East High School and then until 1967 the University of Kansas at Lawrence . He then studied law at Washburn University in Topeka until 1970 . In 1970 he was enlisted in the US Army . He then worked as a lawyer.

From 1971 to 1973 he was the Assistant Attorney General of Kansas and from 1977 to 1989 he was the District Attorney in Johnson County . Politically, Moore became a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1998 congressional elections, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC as their candidate in the third district of Kansas . There he took over from Vince Snowbarger of the Republican Party on January 3, 1999 . In November 2009, Moore announced that he would no longer run for re-election in 2010. He resigned from Congress on January 3, 2011.

Dennis Moore was most recently a member of the Financial Services Committee and the Committee on Small Business and three sub-committees. He campaigned for more tax justice and supported most of the environmental motions in Congress .
