Chauncey B. Little

Chauncy Bundee Little (born February 10, 1877 in Olathe , Kansas , † September 29, 1952 ) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1927 he represented the second constituency of the state of Kansas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Chauncey Little attended his home public schools and Kansas State College in Manhattan . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1898, he began to work in his new profession in Olathe. Between 1901 and 1906 he was the legal representative for the city of Olathe and from 1909 to 1913 he was the district attorney in Johnson County .

Little was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1924 he was elected as their candidate for the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he replaced Republican U. S. Guyer on March 4, 1925 . But since he lost to Guyer in the next election in 1926, he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1927 .

After his tenure in the House of Representatives, Little returned to working as a lawyer. In 1928 he ran unsuccessfully for governor of Kansas. He received only 33.2 percent of the vote and was clearly defeated by the Republican Clyde M. Reed . Chauncey Little died in his native Olathe in September 1929 and was buried there.
