Lynn Jenkins

Lynn Jenkins (born June 10, 1963 in Topeka , Kansas ) is an American politician . From January 2009 to January 2019, she represented the second constituency of the state of Kansas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nancy Jenkins grew up on a Jackson County dairy farm and attended public schools in her home country. Later she graduated from Kansas State University and in 1985 the Weber State University in Ogden ( Utah ).

Jenkins became a member of the Republican Party . She was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2001 and a member of the State Senate from 2001 to 2003 . Between 2003 and 2008 she was Treasurer of the State of Kansas. At times she was chairman of the Association of Treasury Ministers of all US states.

In the 2008 congressional elections , Jenkins was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the second district of Kansas . There, on January 3, 2009, she succeeded Nancy Boyda from the Democratic Party , which she had previously defeated. In Congress , she is or was a member of the Finance Committee and two sub-committees. She was later appointed to the Committee on Ways and Means . After four re-elections so far in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016, she can continue to hold office today. Your new legislative period runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.

Lynn Jenkins was married to Scott Jenkins until their divorce in 2009. There were two children from this marriage. She lives privately in Topeka.
