Edwin R. Ridgely

Edwin Reed Ridgely (born May 9, 1844 in Lancaster , Wabash County , Illinois , † April 23, 1927 in Girard , Kansas ) was an American politician .

Ridgely served during the Civil War from 1862 as a private in Company C of the 150th Regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Infantry . Over time, he was promoted to sergeant . After the war ended, Ridgely retired from the army and moved to Girard, Kansas, in 1869. In 1876 he resigned from the Republican Party because of its financial policy. From 1889 to 1893 he lived in Ogden ( Utah ) and then returned to Kansas.

1896 Ridgely was for the People's Party in the Congress elected and represented there on 4 March 1897 to the March 3, 1901 the State of Kansas in the United States House of Representatives . In the congressional elections in 1900, he was not available for a new candidacy. Ridgely now returned to Kansas, where he farmed in Mulberry . He died on April 23, 1927 in Girard and was buried in the Girard Cemetery there.
