Alfred Metcalf Jackson (born July 14, 1860 in South Carrollton , Muhlenberg County , Kentucky , † June 11, 1924 in Winfield , Kansas ) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the third constituency of the state of Kansas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Alfred Jackson attended his home public schools and West Kentucky College . After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began to practice in his new profession. In 1881 he moved to Howard in Elk County , Kansas. In 1890 he became a district attorney there and in 1892 he was a judge in the 13th judicial district of the state of Kansas. In 1898 he moved to Winfield, Cowley County .

Jackson was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1900 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC as their candidate in the third district of Kansas . There he took over from Edwin R. Ridgely on March 4, 1901 . Since he was not confirmed in the following elections, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1903 .

After serving in Congress, Jackson worked again as a lawyer in Winfield, where he died in 1924.
