Ron Estes (born July 19, 1956 in Topeka , Kansas ) is an American politician . Estes, a member of the Republican Party , has been a member of the 4th constituency of Kansas in the United States House of Representatives since April 11, 2017 .

Life

Ron Estes, born and raised in Topeka, enjoyed his schooling in Tennessee . He has a Bachelor as engineering and a Master in Economics , which he at the Tennessee Technological University acquired. He then worked in various sectors, including being an employee at Procter & Gamble and Koch Industries .

Estes began his political career in 2004 when he was elected Treasurer of Sedgwick County . In 2008 he was re-elected. In parallel, he was vice chairman of the Republican Party in Kansas.

In 2010, Estes was elected Treasury Secretary of Kansas, followed by re-election in 2014. In 2016 he initially supported Marco Rubio in his candidacy for the US presidency, but in autumn 2016 was one of the members of the Electoral College who voted for Donald Trump .

When US President Trump appointed Mike Pompeo director of the Central Intelligence Agency , Estes stood in the 4th constituency for election to Congress and was able to leave Democrat James Thompson behind with around 52 percent of the vote in the April 11, 2017 election .

Ron Estes has three children with his wife Susan. The family runs a farm in Osage County .
