Joe Skubitz (born May 6, 1906 in Frontenac , Crawford County , Kansas , †  September 11, 2000 in Wichita , Kansas) was an American politician .

Skubitz attended Kansas State College in Pittsburg , where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1929 and his Master of Science in 1934 . He then attended the Law School of Washburn University in Topeka in 1938 , and later also the Law School of George Washington University in Washington, DC , where he received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1944 . That same year, Skubitz was admitted to the bar and began practicing law in Kansas and the District of Columbia .

Skubitz worked from 1939 to 1949 as an assistant to Senator Clyde M. Reed and from 1949 to 1962 for Senator Andrew Schoeppel . At the Republican National Convention 1960 he took part as a delegate. In the 1962 congressional election, Skubitz was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented the state of Kansas in the United States House of Representatives from January 3, 1963 until his resignation on December 31, 1978 . Skubitz no longer took part in the 1978 congressional election. He died on September 11, 2000 in Wichita and was buried in the Old Mission Cemetery there.
