Benjamin Petrik (born October 27, 1988 in Villach ) is a former Austrian ice hockey striker who spent his entire career at EC VSV in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Benjamin Petrik is the younger brother of Nikolas Petrik and the son of the former VSV player Helmut Petrik . So he came to VSV as a teenager. At the age of 17 he made his debut in the VSV combat team. By 2014 he had played almost 400 Bundesliga games for Villach. In 2012 he was loaned to ATSE Graz for the playoff games of the Austrian National League , at that time the second highest division in the country , with which he reached the playoff final, but was defeated there against HC Innsbruck .

In 2018 he first switched to EC KAC , but decided a few days later to end his career immediately. The reasons for this were a chronic hip injury and his training with the police.

International

In the junior division Petrik took part in the U18 World Cup 2006 in Division I for Austria. He made his debut in the men's national team on April 8, 2009 in Innsbruck when he lost 3-1 to Austria . At a major senior tournament of the IIHF he was used for the first time in Division I of the 2014 World Cup when he was promoted to the top division with the team from the Alpine country.

Inline hockey

In addition to ice hockey, Petrik also plays inline hockey. With the Austrian national inline hockey team , he took part in the 2013 World Cup in Dresden , where the Austrians played in Division I. He reached the final of the tournament with his team, but missed promotion to the top division due to the 5-1 defeat in the final against Great Britain .
