Winfield is a city in the US state of Kansas and the county seat of Cowley County .
geography
The city is located in west central Cowley County. Winfield lies along the Walnut River and its right tributary, Timber Creek. 16.66 kilometers northeast is Timber Creek Lake , which is also part of Winfield. The urban area extends over 32.37 square kilometers. 89 percent of this is land, 11 percent of the area is covered by water. The city is located in the Kansas Flint Hills. The next largest parish is Arkansas City , 13 miles south of Winfield.
Demographics
On July 1, 2015, Winfield was home to 12,204 people. The city had to record a population decrease of 1.2 percent since April 1, 2010.
Parks
There are 4 parks in Winfield. The largest is Island Park , which is surrounded by a moat and in the middle of which there is a playground. This was destroyed by fire in 2013 and reopened in 2014.

Another school is the Trinity Lutheran School.
