Huseyin Goksu

Hüseyin Göksu (* 1946 in Eskişehir ) is a Turkish former lieutenant general of the army (Türk Kara Kuvvetleri) , who was among other things commanding general of III. Corps (III. Kolordu) was in Şişli .

Life

After attending school in Eskişehir, his hometown, Göksu completed an officer training at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) , which he completed in 1965 as an ensign (Asteğmen) . After a subsequent training at the infantry school (Piyade Okulu) he was promoted to lieutenant (Teğmen) in 1966 and then found employment in various infantry units, where he was promoted to first lieutenant (Üsteğmen) in 1969 . He was a graduate of the Army Academy ( Kara Harp Akademisi ) between 1974 and 1976 and was promoted to captain (Yüzbaşı) during this time in 1975 . After serving as a staff officer, he was company commander of the 14th training company from 1977 to 1980 and then from 1980 to 1982 commander of the 2nd training battalion of the Army School.

From 1982 to 1985 Göksu was Chief of Staff of the 51st Division and then from 1985 to 1989 Head of the Training and Courses Department in the General Staff of Turkey , before he was Commander of the 4th Regiment and Chief of Staff of the Occupation Force from 1989 to 1992 in Cyprus KTBK (Kıbrıs Türk Barış Kuvvetleri) was.

After his promotion to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) , Göksu became deputy head of the personnel department at the Army Headquarters in 1992 and then in 1994 commander of the 26th Panzer Brigade. In 1996 he was promoted to major general (Tümgeneral) and appointed chief of staff of the 1st Army (Birinci Ordu) stationed in Istanbul's Selimiye barracks , before he was then commander of the 23rd division from 1998 to 2000.

After Göksu was promoted to lieutenant general (co- general ) in 2000 , he took over the post of commanding general of III. Corps (III. Kolordu) in Şişli . He remained in this post until his retirement in 2004. After retiring from active military service, he became a board member in the pension fund of the armed forces OYAK (Ordu Yardımlaşma Kurumu) and the Turkish Chess Federation.

Göksu, who is married and has two children, was awarded the Armed Forces Medal for Outstanding Courage and Self- Sacrifice (Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri Üstün Cesaret ve Feragat Madalyası) and speaks English as well as Turkish .
