Keywest is a British-Irish pop rock band of four from Dublin , Ireland .
history
founding
Keywest was founded in 2009 by childhood friends Andrew Kavanagh ( vocals ) and Andrew Glover ( rhythm guitar , keyboard , background vocals ) in Artane , Dublin , who initially performed together in pubs. The band got their name after a trip to Florida . At the beginning of 2010, drummer Eamon Hegarty and the British James Lock as lead guitarist and Sam Marder on bass, the provisional first line-up. The former was replaced in 2011 by Harry Sullivan from London .
After the British part of the band decided to move to Dublin , Keywest began to play on Shop Street in Galway and later on Grafton Street in Dublin to gain their first fans and test their own songs on a live audience. In addition, there were soon appearances in universities, radio and television interviews and larger gigs such as at the Oxegen Festival (2010 and 2011), as the opening act for Paolo Nutini on Arthur's Day or at The Rose of Tralee Festival.
Debut album The Message
Already known for their radio hits Feels so Cruel and Fight for Love , Keywest released their debut album The Message in Ireland in January 2012 . This was produced in Los Angeles with Grammy- nominated Mark Needham, who has worked with The Killers , Katy Perry , Fleetwood Mac and Imagine Dragons , and Dan Frampton. All of the songs on it are based on the actual experiences of the band members. In 2012, the multi- platinum album was nominated by Hot Press as the best debut album.
The Meteor Awards nominated as best newcomer, played Keywest already numerous sold-out concerts, including The Button Factory , The Academy Dublin , The Forum Waterford , Monroe Galway in October 2013 and in March 2014 Vicar Street in Dublin , and are among the most played artists on Irish radio.
In 2012 they signed a worldwide record deal in Los Angeles with Peer Music . While the band said they would like to continue playing in the streets of Ireland in 2014, they have also announced a tour for the end of the year and are continuing to work on their second album.
