Khalid Rahilou (born June 19, 1966 in Argenteuil , Val-d'Oise , France ) is a former French kickboxer and boxer of Moroccan origin in the light welterweight division .

Amateur career

Khalid Rahilou began his martial arts career with kickboxing, where he became world champion of the WAKO in 1987 with the amateurs . He defeated it Ramon Dekkers and Troy Dorsey .

As a boxer, he then started at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and defeated the Samoan Avaavau Avaavau, but then retired without a fight against Lyton Mphande from Malawi.

At the World Championships in Moscow in 1989 he lost in the round of 16 against Olympic champion Michael Carruth .

Professional career

He made his professional debut on December 10, 1988. In February 1994 he won the French championship and in June 1994 the EBU European championship against his compatriot Valery Kayumba. He then won title defense against Gert Bo Jacobsen , Patrick Ballesta, Pasquale Perna and Søren Søndergaard .

On January 11, 1997, he was WBA world champion by an early win against Frankie Randall and was able to defend his title against Marty Jakubowski and Jean-Baptiste Mendy before losing to Sharmba Mitchell on October 10, 1998 . He was also defeated in an EBU European Championship fight against Thomas Damgaard .

A last major victory he succeeded on September 15, 2001 by TKO in the first round against Ferenc Szakallas, making him WBA Intercontinental Champion. On May 23, 2002 he lost to Souleymane M'baye and ended his career.
