Khawaja Shahabuddin

Khawaja Shahabuddin (born May 31, 1898 in Dhaka , † February 9, 1977 in Karachi ) was a Pakistani politician and diplomat .

biography

Khawaja Shahabuddin came from a family of Nawabs and was the younger brother of Khawaja Nazimuddin , Governor General of Dominion Pakistan from 1948 to 1951 and Prime Minister from 1951 to 1953.

Shahabuddin himself was Minister of the Interior in the government of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan from 1948 to 1951 . After his assassination on October 16, 1951, he was appointed governor of the North-West Frontier Province by his brother . He held this office until 1954.

In 1954 he switched to the diplomatic service and became ambassador to Saudi Arabia . As such, he was to 1958 as ambassador to Yemen accredited. In 1958 he was appointed Ambassador to the United Arab Republic (VAR) .

Khawaja Shahabuddin was most recently High Commissioner in Nigeria between 1961 and 1964 . At the same time he was accredited as ambassador to Cameroon , Senegal , Sierra Leone and Togo .
