Khenichet or Khnichet ( Arabic الخنيشات) Of about 12,000 inhabitants, capital of a rural community of the same name is (commune rurale) with a total of about 25,000 inhabitants in the province of Sidi Kacem in the Region Rabat-Sale-Kénitra in the north of Morocco .
Location and climate
Khenichet is about 30 km north of Sidi Kacem on the Oued Ouerrha on the eastern edge of the fertile Gharb plain at an altitude of about 35 m ; the big city of Kenitra is about 100 m to the southwest. The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 570 mm / year) falls almost exclusively in the winter half-year.

Most of the inhabitants who immigrated from the surrounding villages in the second half of the 20th century are of Berber descent. However, Moroccan Arabic is usually spoken .
economy
In the surrounding villages, agriculture is practiced on a large scale; Animal husbandry (sheep, goats, chickens), on the other hand, has become rather rare. The small town itself functions as a regional craft, trade and service center.
history
As is common in the Berber regions of the Maghreb , there are no written records of the earlier history of the place . It is said that a French named Godard founded the place at the beginning of the 20th century.
