Khunde is a village in VDC Khumjung in the Khumbu region of Nepal within the Sagarmatha National Park .

location

Khunde lies together with the neighboring town of Khumjung in a basin, the Khumjung Valley, at the foot of the Khumbi Yul Lha , the holy mountain of the Sherpas . The Khumjung Valley lies between 3800  m and 4000  m above N. N. Khunde is in the western part of the valley and with 3840  m a little higher than Khumjung.

Infrastructure

In the village of Khunde is the Himalaya Foundation operated by the Sir Edmund Hillary , Khunde Hospital. The hospital is responsible for supplying the entire Khumbu region and operates smaller outposts in various other locations that are only manned on one day. The two doctors at the Khunde Hospital treat around 5000 Sherpa from the region and around 1500 foreigners, mostly trekkers , every year . The most common diseases of the locals are infectious diseases of the lungs, dysentery, skin and eye ailments. Most trekkers suffer from diarrhea or altitude sickness .
