The Ruther Marsch Kiesteich is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Sarstedt in the Hildesheim district .

The nature reserve was around 17  hectares in size. It was designated in 1985 (date of regulation: March 8, 1985) and in October 2001 it was incorporated into the newly designated nature reserve “ Leineaue between Ruthe and Koldingen ”.

The former nature reserve is located in the Leine aue northwest of Sarstedt. It placed a gravel pond with an island and the surrounding bank areas in the Leineaue, where gravel has been mined since the 1960s, under protection. After the abandonment of gravel mining in this gravel pond, the riparian zones and fallow areas had developed naturally. The nature reserve was surrounded by grassland , which assumed an important buffer function in the otherwise intensively arable area. Another gravel pond followed to the northwest.
