Kike Maíllo Iznájar (born June 3, 1975 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish director and screenwriter .

Life

Kike Maíllo studied from 1994 at the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC). His thesis was the short film Las cabras de Freud , made in 1999 , in which Tristán Ulloa played the leading role of Ángel .

At first he shot numerous commercials for companies such as Nestlé , Fotoprix, Telepizza and FC Barcelona. In addition, artistic works and music videos for artists such as Pastora Soler , Raphael or Manos de Topo were created .

His second short film, Los perros de Pavlov, followed in 2003 . From 2009 he worked on the cartoon series Arròs covat , initially as a screenwriter, later as a director. Eva was made in 2011 , Maíllo's first feature film, in which Daniel Brühl and Marta Etura played the leading roles. The film has won numerous prizes, including the Goya for the best young director and the audience award at the Gérardmer Film Festival .

Since 2000 he has been teaching screenwriting and film directing at ESCAC.
