from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kilian Stetzing (* around 1400 in Pomerania , near Greifswald ; † after 1435 ) was a Franciscan theologian .

Life

More precise dates of life are unknown, the only sure evidence of life is the matriculation at the University of Erfurt in 1433. Before that, he entered the Franciscan monastery in Greifswald , where he received his first training. This was followed by further studies in Colchester , where he edited his tabula . Back in Erfurt, Stetzing wrote a sentence commentary on Petrus Lombardus and became Baccalaureus formatus . Further evidence of life is missing, which probably indicates an imminent death.

His work reflects a comprehensive education, is historical of ideas , like the entire Erfurt School , and strongly influenced by Johannes Duns Scotus . In addition, thoughts of St. Bonaventure about the vita contemplativa were incorporated . Everything is carried by a strong, sometimes childlike piety . His clear style and clear presentation make him appear as an important teacher of the Erfurt studies.
