Career as a player

Football career in South Korea

Hak-beom signed to Kookmin Bank FC when he was 20 . Until 1982 his club played in amateur football. When the K League was founded in 1983 , his club was included in the K League. Little is known about his career there. He remained loyal to the club throughout his career and never changed. He also did not move when the club withdrew from the K League. In 1992 he ended his career with Kookmin Bank FC.

Career as a coach

After his career as a player, he became an assistant coach at Kookmin Bank FC. He stayed there until the club was dissolved in 1997. In 1996 he had a double function: on the one hand, he was assistant coach of Kookmin Bank FC, on the other hand he was assistant coach of the South Korean U-23 national team. He was only assistant coach there in 1996. For the 1998 season he became the new assistant coach of Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma FC, today's Seongnam FC assistant coach. After Seongnam finished the season in ninth place in 2004, it was decided to replace the old coach with his assistant coach. He then coached Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma FC for four years from 2004 to 2008. With Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma FC he celebrated his first championship title in 2006 . It was also the last title for the club in the K League. At the end of the 2008 season it was over for him. After the club was eliminated in the championship rounds against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the first round, he was fired. In 2010 the Henan Construction association announced that they had signed him as a coach. He didn't stay there long. At the end of 2011 he left the Chinese club. In 2012 he went to Gangwon FC . In 2012 he was able to save the club by four points ahead of the relegation place. In 2013 he could not prevent the club's relegation. In the relegation his team lost 4-1 to Sangju Sangmu FC in the first leg . Although the second leg could be won 1-0, they still had to relegate to the K League Challenge . After the descent was established, he was released. Two years later he returned to the K League Classic . After 6 years, he returned to Seongnam FC. With Seongnam FC he won the Korean FA Cup 2014 . After two years, however, it was over again for him. After the club did not reach the championship round in the K League Classic 2016 and his team did not collect any points in the relegation round and thus got into the relegation battle, he was dismissed.
