Kim Ki-young (born October 10, 1919 in Seoul , † February 5, 1998 ibid) was a South Korean film director .
He was known for his psychosexual and melodramatic horror films, which often featured women.
His most famous film Hanyo (1960) about a femme fatale is considered one of the best Korean films of all time. The father of a family, Dong-shik, gives music lessons to factory workers while his wife works on the sewing machine at home. When she experiences a breakdown, Dong gets a housekeeper. But she behaves strangely, sniffing after Dong and catching rats with her bare hands. Finally, she takes an incident as an opportunity to plan a gruesome revenge.
