Kim Se-jin (born January 30, 1974 in Okcheon-gun ; Korean : 김세진) is a South Korean volleyball coach and former national player. He is currently under contract as the trainer of Ansan OK Savings Bank Rush & Cash VC .

Career

education

Kim Se-jin got his start in volleyball in Okcheon High School . He later received further training from Hanyang University .

Career as a player

After finishing his training, Kim joined the Samsung Fire VC . In his career he was able to win the Korean Volleyball Superleague several times. He won the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 seasons. After the club entered the V-League , he was also part of the 2005 and 2005/06 squad. In 2005 he won the league championship right away with the now renamed Daejeon Samsung Fire Bluefangs VC club. In the 2005/06 season he was runner-up with Daejeon. In the first season of the KOVO Cup , the club came second. After the end of the 2005/06 season, Kim ended his active career and left the club.

International career

While he was still in Hanyang, Kim was invited to the U-20 South Korea selection . In the same year he won the Asian Youth Volleyball Championship in Tehran. Shortly thereafter, he was also invited to the South Korean men's national volleyball team. With her he won the Asian volleyball championship in 1993 in Nakhon Ratchasima. In 1995 he won 2nd place with the selection in Seoul and in 1997 he also won 2nd place with the selection in Tehran . In 2001 he won first place and gold with the selection in Changwon and 2003 in Tianjin . At the Asian Games he won bronze in 1994 in Hiroshima , silver in 1998 in Bangkok and even gold in 2002 in Busan . Kim also participated in the Olympics three times . In 2003 he ended his career as a selection player and resigned.

Coaching career

In 2013 Kim returned to the V-League as a coach. The newly joined Ansan OK Savings Bank Rush & Cash VC announced their commitment. In his first season as a coach, the club only reached a sixth place in the league. In the cup, the club failed in the group stage. In the following season, the club reached second place in the regular season and thus qualified for the play-offs. There he won with his team against Suwon KEPCO Vixtorm VC 2-0 after winning games and was then in the final. In best-of-3 mode , they were able to beat his old club Daejeon Samsung Fire Bluefangs VC 3-0 after winning games and were then South Korean champions. In the cup, the club was able to fight its way into the final, but failed there because of the Seoul Woori Card Hansae VC with 1: 3 after sets.

In 2015/16 Ansan was able to defend the championship title after a 3-1 final win over Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers . In the 2016/17 season they finished last and could not defend the title. The coach was also unable to celebrate any successes in the cup. The club was eliminated from the cup in the group stage. In the 2017/18 season, the team could not improve and again ended the season last. Also in the cup they were eliminated again in the group stage.
